Melting pot for candy melts (or a double boiler/microwave)
Silicone mini bow molds
Ingredients
22classic Oreo cookies
22red velvet Oreo cookies
8ozcream cheeseroom temperature, divided
10oz EACHred, dark green, and white candy melts
White sparkling sanding sugaroptional
Instructions
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a food processor, blend the classic Oreos to fine crumbs; transfer to a bowl. Repeat with the red velvet Oreos.
Using a hand mixer, whip half the cream cheese in a bowl until creamy. Mix in the classic Oreo crumbs until evenly combined. Clean your mixer attachments.
Whip the remaining cream cheese in a new bowl, then blend in the red velvet crumbs.
Form the mixtures into 1.5-inch cubes using a scoop, and place on your baking sheet. Chill for 2 hours.
Prepare the bows: Melt your chosen candy melts colors and pour into bow molds. Wipe the edges for a neat finish and chill until set.
Melt the majority of your dark green candy melts using a double boiler or melting pot. Keep the heat low to prevent seizing.
Dip each chilled square into the melts, using a fork to remove and tap off excess. Place back on the baking sheet. Sprinkle with sanding sugar or other decorations immediately. Repeat this process with 5-6 squares for each melt color.
Clean your boiler and repeat the melting process with the red and white candy melts, reserving ¼ cup of each for ribbons.
Pour the reserved melts into separate piping bags. Microwave on a low setting, massaging the bags every minute to ensure even heating.
Cut a small tip off each bag and drizzle over your squares to form ribbons, then immediately add a mini bow on top.
Allow the coating to set completely before serving. Refrigerating can speed up this process.
Notes
Stick to regular cream-filled Oreos for the right consistency. Avoid Double Stuf or Mega Stuf versions.
For a single flavor, use 44 Oreos and a full 8 oz of cream cheese. Mix and match candy melt colors for a vibrant look.
A double boiler or melting pot ensures smooth, consistent melting. If microwaving, use a low setting and stir frequently.
Sanding sugar and sprinkles are optional but add a festive touch.
Silicone mini bow molds are available online if not found locally.
