Celebrate Independence Day with these colorful, fun, and delicious 4th of July Oreos! They are an easy and exciting project to make with kids and a delightful addition to any summer BBQ or party. You just need your favorite Oreos, melting wafers in patriotic colors, and some sprinkles to create these eye-catching treats.
Line baking trays with parchment paper and set aside.
Melt ¾ of the royal blue melting wafers. Dip Oreos into the blue melts, remove excess, and place on the baking tray. Immediately top with white nonpareils. Repeat for 8-10 Oreos. Place in the refrigerator to set.
Melt ¾ of the red melting wafers. Dip Oreos into the red melts, remove excess, and place on the baking tray, spaced out. Melt some white melting wafers in a piping bag and drizzle over the red Oreos. Repeat for 8-10 Oreos. Place in the refrigerator to set.
Melt 1 package of white melting wafers. Dip Oreos into the white melts, remove excess, and place on the baking tray. Immediately top with the red, white, and blue nonpareils. Repeat for 8-10 Oreos. Place in the refrigerator to set.
Melt another package of white melting wafers. Dip Oreos into the white melts, remove excess, and place on the baking tray, spaced out. Melt the remaining red and blue wafers in separate piping bags and drizzle over the white Oreos. Repeat for 8-10 Oreos. Place in the refrigerator to set.
Keep the prepared Oreos in the refrigerator until ready to serve.
Notes
Be sure to melt the wafers over low heat to avoid seizing. Never add liquid to candy melts.
You can add 1-2 teaspoons of vegetable shortening per 12-ounce bag of Wilton brand candy melts.
You can use any flavor of Oreos you desire, even Golden Oreos. You can also use regular, Double Stuf, or Mega Stuf varieties.
Storing: These treats can be made ahead of time and will last 7-10 days stored at room temperature in an airtight container. For longer storage, keep in an airtight container or Ziploc bag in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
