Ingredients
8Golden Oreos
32piecesCandy Corn
⅓ cupChocolate Candy Melts
8Chocolate Candy Melts
16Small Edible Candy Eyeballs
8Reese's Pieces Candieseither yellow or orange
Red Decorating Icing
Instructions
Start with 8 Golden Oreo cookies. Twist each one gently to remove one side of the cookie and set it aside. Try to keep all of the Oreo cream on the side that you don't remove.
Melt 1/3 cup of candy melts per the package instructions being sure that you leave 8 out to use later. Once melted, add the chocolate to a piping bag or a Ziplock bag. Use scissors to cut the tip off of the bag, creating a small hole.
To add the tail feathers, pipe four small lines of chocolate onto one edge of the Oreo cream, and immediately place a candy corn on each with the pointed part pointing inwards. Then pipe more chocolate on top of the tips of the candy corn and quickly place the other side of the Oreo back on top.
Pipe some melted chocolate in the center of the Oreo and glue down a chocolate melt to act as the face. Then use the chocolate to glue on two candy eyes and one Reese's pieces candy to make the beak. Finally, use the red icing to create the gobble. Make a curved line about 1/2 inch long coming from under one of the eyes, next to the beak
Notes
To Store: Keep in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
Chocolate Hardens Quickly: You don't have much time to work after you've piped out the melted chocolate. If you accidentally let it harden, just add a little bit more and try again. If you need to reheat your chocolate, you can put it back in the bowl and return it to the microwave for a few seconds.
Use What You Have: These thanksgiving cookies are a great way to use up leftover Halloween candy. Get creative if you like. Rolo's can be used for the turkey's face, and cut up Twizzlers could be glued on for the gobbles.
Can't Find Chocolate Candy Melts? Use bar chocolate or chocolate chips as your glue instead. For the turkey face, use mini cookies or a different type of round candy.
Get Messy! Skip the piping bag set up and use a small spoon and toothpicks to spread the chocolate. No need to be super precise, particular if you have little hands helping you.
