Crumbl Vanilla Crumb Cake Recipe Highlights
- Big, Thick Vanilla Sugar Cookies – This recipe makes only 12 cookies, because each of them is so big and thick. The texture of these cookies is chewy and delightfully dense, and you can decide whether or not you will share yours or eat the whole thing yourself!
- With Golden Oreos – These vanilla sandwich cookies add so much delicious flavor and texture to these crumb cake cookies. It might seem strange to use cookie crumbs in cookie dough like this, but trust the process, the cookies are going to be amazing!
- And Cream Cheese Frosting – Crumbl’s cream cheese frosting is thick, rich, and out-of-this-world decadent, and so is mine! The cream cheese frosting is the perfect topping for these sweet sugar cookies.
Key Ingredients
Complete list of ingredients with quantities and instructions is located in the recipe card below
- Golden Oreos: These are the star of this cookie recipe! Pick up a package, you’ll need almost the whole thing to make this recipe. Cookie crumbs are mixed into the dough and sprinkled on top.
- Butter: Use unsalted butter, and be sure that it is softened to room temperature before you start making this recipe. You’ll need butter for both the cookie dough and the frosting.
- Vanilla Extract: This is after all a vanilla crumb cake cookie, so be sure that you’re using a good quality pure vanilla extract.
- Baking Powder: This gives the cookie dough a bit of lift while it’s baking.
- Eggs: Room temperature eggs will mix into the cookie dough more smoothly than cold ones will, so leave them out with your butter to warm up a bit.
- Cream Cheese: Use regular full-fat cream cheese to make the luscious frosting for these cookies.
How To Make Copycat Crumble Vanilla Crumb Cake Cookies
Top Tips
- Try to serve these right away. If you ordered this cookie at Crumbl, it would be served slightly warm, with fresh cream cheese frosting added just before they handed it to you. If you don’t plan to serve the cookies immediately, let them cool down all the way before frosting.
- If you don’t have a food processor, you can crush the Golden Oreos using a ziplock bag and a meat mallet or heavy rolling pin.
- Do not skip the chilling step. This cookie dough is quite sticky, and very difficult to work with. Chilling will make it much easier. Plus, the cookies will not bake properly if the dough isn’t chilled before baking.
- Try making smaller cookies! I haven’t fully tested this, but you should be able to make “normal” sized or mini Crumbl cookies by dividing the dough into 24 balls. Bake for around 10 minutes, or until they are done!
Storing Tips
If you don’t eat these right away, they can be stored for up to 3 days. Keep them in the refrigerator since they have cream cheese frosting, but try to let them come to room temperature before enjoying them.

Recipe FAQs
What Else Can I Add to These Cookies?
If you’d like to play around with the recipe, try adding a pinch of cinnamon to the dough! You could also mix in some rainbow sprinkles, white chocolate chips, or larger pieces of Golden Oreos.
Does the dough need to be chilled?
Yes, it really does. If you do not chill the dough your cookies will spread all over the place. Since the cookies are so large, I recommend chilling the rolled cookie dough balls for at least 8 hours, or overnight.
Can I Freeze These Crumbl Cookies?
Yes you can! If the cookies are unfrosted, you can freeze them for up to 2 month.
If you’ve frosted them already, freeze them in a single layer, then wrap well. They’ll keep for about a month in the freezer.
Can I skip the frosting?
Of course! These soft sugar cookies are delicious with or without the cream cheese frosting.
